Southern Oregon Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah and Port

At DANCIN Vineyards, we are truly a limited production micro winery and our objective is to handcraft wines that are reflective of their true varietal character…wines that express a sense of place, diversity and unity that radiate alluring aromas, character and grace, complexity and elegance, all structured with a wonderfully balanced finish: Wines that simply reflect the amazing persona of Pinot noir and Chardonnay! Wines that are a dance for the senses…and simply irresistible!

It all begins in the vineyard! As we continually assess the status and requirements of each grapevine throughout the season and tailor our activities accordingly, we do so with the goal of producing healthy fruit with smaller berries and concentrated clusters for our winery knowing that this will result in reduced intervention by our winemaker.

At harvest, we hand sort through each cluster to remove any leaves that may have fallen into the buckets prior to placing them in the harvest bins and at the winery, all clusters are individually inspected by hand prior to processing. Fermentation occurs by the native yeast provided by nature in the vineyard. Our wines are hand crafted in small lots and all punchdowns are done by hand, which allows us to have a more intimate involvement with the aromas and temperatures as the wine is monitored throughout the fermentation process. Each and every aspect of our winemaking is performed at the pace of the individual wine being crafted…one bottle at a time. At DANCIN Vineyards, it’s about patience, good stewardship and attention to every single detail.

The fruit for our Trata Pinot noir was hand harvested and hand sorted on a pristine October 20th morning from the vineyard located along the drive into the estate. Immediately following harvest, the clusters consisting of Wadenswil 2A, Dijon 115 and 828 were delivered to the winery where the fruit was once again hand sorted and then destemmed and placed in small bins to cold soak until fermentation began with indigenous yeast provided by nature in the vineyard. After a series of manual punch downs, the wine was pressed, settled and transferred to 100% French oak barrels for fourteen months where primary and ML fermentations were naturally completed.

Our Trata, named after a traditional commemorative dance performed in the ancient Greek city of Megara only at Easter time, was our opportunity to select our favorite barrels from this small lot and share it with you.

Released on August 7th, 2013

On the dawning of a chilly 34 degree October 26th morning, beautifully ripe Pommard clusters grown in Jory soil were hand harvested at the site of one of the oldest Pinot noir vineyards in the Red Hills of Dundee. As one of the early pioneers in the region, the well-respected Durant family established the first of their vineyards in 1973, which are dry farmed with minimal intervention. This vintage, the coolest in nearly five decades, has been described as the miracle harvest vintage.

Immediately following harvest, the bins were covered, secured and the fruit transported to the winery where the clusters were hand sorted, destemmed and allowed to cold soak for eight days. Fermentation began as a result of the native yeast provided by nature in the vineyard and the must was moved to 100% French oak barrels for fourteen months where primary and ML fermentations were naturally completed.

$34.00 (Wine Club: $27.20)
Released on November 22nd, 2013

Our Pas de Trois is a fusion of wines made with fruit from vines tended by three families of farmers each committed to minimal input viticulture practices in three of Oregon’s distinct growing regions.

This wine is comprised of 60% Pommard, Dijon 114, 115, 667, 777, 828 and Wadenswil 2A grown at DANCIN Vineyards in the forested west hills above Jacksonville near the site where pioneer Peter Britt planted his first vineyard nearly 150 years ago in the south, and 20% Pommard grown at Durant Vineyards, early pioneers in the Oregon wine industry, establishing the first of their vineyards in 1973 along with 20% Dijon 667 and 777 grown on a hilltop at Hyland Estates both located in the north.

The wines were crafted using low input artisan winemaking techniques to compliment the practices in the vineyards, and were carefully blended together to create this limited production Pinot noir through which you will experience the multifaceted flavors of Oregon. It’s a Pas de Trois . . . a dance for three. Enjoy!
